Pastoring a church is the last thing Dennis Ray would have imagined himself doing ten years ago. After graduating from college with a degree in business administration in 1990, he immediately went to work for Hewlett-Packard Co. in Palo Alto, CA. He worked there for seven years as an accountant and project manager. It was during his time at HP, that the unthinkable happened, he felt God calling him to become a pastor. He began taking courses at Fuller Theological Seminary and eventually completed a Masters of Divinity degree.
Dennis came Sunnyside in March, 2000. Prior to Sunnyside, he served for two years as the young adult pastor at Sunnyvale Seventh-day Adventist Church.
His wife, Diane, is an RN at Fresno Heart Hospital. He has two sons, Devin and Derek.
His hobbies include sports, reading and bike riding. He is passionate about the Giants, 49ers, Bulldogs, Cornhuskers, and any team that is playing the Dodgers, Cowboys or Raiders.
Pastor Calvin Redman
Calvin Redman has a strange accent and sounds like he should be wrestling crocodiles. Although not a super extreme risk taker, he has always loved doing fun stuff with youth. God called him to full time ministry during his final year of a Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Tasmania (that's in Australia). After God's calling, Cal went to Avondale and completed a Graduate Diploma in Theology.
Cal came to Sunnyside in October 2009 after sweating it out in Walmart for a few months and in the hot sands of Egypt before that. Cal volunteered for the church in Egypt as a Pastor and his wife, Jessica, was setting up a pre-school in the back of the church. Before building the pyramids, Cal previously pastored in Warburton and Mildura (both in Australia).
Cal's wife, Jessica, is an Elementary Teacher and they currently have no children, although Jessie is very keen for a dog... by the way, that's NOT a hint!
Cal's hobbies include playing music, graphics editing, basket ball, bodyboarding, other sports and car racing. Cal would love to own a Ferrari one day, but is doubtful that it will ever happen on a pastor's wage, especially if we get a dog. He is still coming to terms with NFL, MLB, NBA, ETC, LOL, BRB and CIA and is considering going for the Dodgers and the Cowboys because Dennis loves them so much.
